This one fell asleep sucking her pillow.
My very wonderful friend Andrea paid us a visit while she is in the states between teaching jobs in Azerbaijan and Zurich. We went to coffee, on a walk, and she joined us for our chaotic family dinner and a scooter walk. It was great to see her.

Beach Saturday
After a long hard week of adjusting to new bedtime and nap routines due to the bunks, our family was in need of some beach time. So come Saturday morning, we high tailed it over the hill and spent the day in Capitola, drove around Santa Cruz for naps, then had dinner downtown. It was great to get out.

Our afternoon
The girls all napped (HALLELUJAH!) and were in good spirits this afternoon, so I took a few photos. Here are some of my favorites.
This just cracks me up. I said to the girls, "Sit next to Adele". First they were grabbing her and pulling her down, and I couldn't take a photo because they were being unsafe. Then they calmed down, I adjusted some camera settings, and they had done this:
Yep, That's pretty much right next to her. Poor Adele, smiling from behind. Then things got a little unruly again, so no more sitting photos, but they laid down on the floor and we got some more cute ones.
The girls get a treat if they take their quiet times, and enjoying their treats is a calm thing, so some sitting pictures were possible. Adele was hilariously eyeing Kate's lolly pop.
Hmmm...that looks amazing.
Um... can I have some?Excuse me. I'd really like to have some.
Ok. :( I guess not...
Don't worry, as soon as I put down the camera, Adele got a baby approved snack. :)
Seven months
Our littlest sweetie is seven months today. Time is a flying by. Feels like just yesterday she hit six months. Now we are rocketing our way towards her first birthday.
It seems like nothing, and everything has changed in the last month. Adele is still our calm, happy baby. But now she is sitting up and eating. We are done with bouncers, play mats, and other infant stuff, and on to high chairs sippy cups, spoons and snacks. She was starting to sit up last month, but really, as soon as I started giving her more chances to practice, she got pretty stable. When she is on her stomach, she rolls, pivots, and almost crawls around, but when she's sitting up, she's happy and content to play with a toy or watch the commotion around her.
She seems to be a pretty good eater so far. It seemed for a while she didn't like apple sauce, which was a shocker to me, but she seems to have warmed up to it. Sweet potatoes were a win, and today she enjoyed her first tastes of yogurt. Veggies are a hit or a miss. Poor thing, and poor guilty mama, she has only had homemade baby food once. I thought this would be something that I continued with all my children, but alas, number three has pushed me over the edge of too many things to do, so most of Adele's food comes from little pouches. She's already pretty interested in table food, and will gnaw on and eat carrots, cucumbers, apples, bananas, bread, and she really chomped down some whole peaches the other day. So I don't think she will need the purees for long.
This month she has also seemed a little more sensitive about our presence. She may fuss a little when she's left alone. But her bottom teeth are coming in (almost but not yet) and she's had a little cold, so perhaps her fussiness is just that.
Adele has been sleeping in the crib a little more this month, since sweet Kate is finally starting to get the hang of room sharing. And with a couple nights in the crib, came a couple sleeps through the night! It was glorious, except the fact that someone else woke up on the nights she slept through. But there is a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel.
And smiles! Oh, she's all smiles. And she loves to laugh! Here's some sweet smiles for mama.
And here's how she grows!

Watermelon with friends.
Our little sitter!
Cuddling after a very hard afternoon.
Emeline wrote mommy's name and her own. Starting to get pretty legible!
Adele's sweet profile while watching her sisters play at shoreline park.
Supposed to be sleeping...
Our friends at the park. Emeline and Gracie take ballet together. While they dance, the little ones go to the park. Then we all picnic and play some more. The girls all play really well together. Today Emeline and Gracie were fighting over who was the leader, so Emeline is grumpy.
