One year
Happy Birthday Emeline! It is surreal that a year has passed since you joined our family, let alone that I'm even writing this post! This is the time of the month that I sum up how you've grown and changed this month, but for some reason I feel like I don't even know where to begin. You started out amazing, and continue to amaze us every day.
A year ago, you surprised us with by deciding to enter the world strong, quick and early. I guess you were tenacious from the get-go. You started out as a sweet and delicate 5 lb 4 oz little person, who needed to eat a lot, and sleep when you weren't eating, incubating in our home instead of inside mommy. You can tell from your first photo with the sheep that you could not be disturbed.
Now, you are a bustling little girl. You enjoy life much more with people around, now waving and smiling at people as they come your way. Kisses are one of your favorites right now, but people need to watch out, because they are big and wet! You love little kids and babies, and when we pass by a playground you squeal with impatience to get there. You are talking up a storm, mostly in your own language, but sometimes you try to say what we're saying, like 'toes', or 'good'. Now you'll say 'mamamama', but usually you're upset about something. You love to hear your own voice, and you'll talk into cups or other objects to hear the funny sounds it makes. You absolutely love games, especially hide and seek or peekaboo, or anything with a surprise.
You've been practicing your walking, and when you're in the mood you can take quite a few steps by yourself. But of course, it's all when you are ready and feeling up for it. You even like to shake your little booty to some of your toys that play music. We're still working on getting a good video of that.
Okay, enough of my talk. What the audience really wants it more Emeline! Here are some pictures we took today in her birthday dress.

One month. 7 lbs 5 oz, 19.75 in long
Two months. 9 lbs 15 oz, 20.75 inches long.
Three months. 12 lbs 11 oz, 22.25 inches long.
Four months. 14 lbs 15.25 oz, 24 inches long
Five months. 16 lbs 10 oz
Six months. 18 lbs 1 oz, 25.75 inches long
Seven months. 19 lbs 8 oz
Eight months.
Nine months. 21 lbs 5 oz, 27.5 inches long.
Ten months.
Eleven months.
Twelve months. 22 lbs 11 oz, 29 inches long.

Practice makes perfect
Emeline has been practicing her walking! She's been getting more brave and taking a steps to get from one object to another. And now, she's even taking a few steps out towards her goal, even when there is nothing in sight to hang on to. I tried to capture that on video, but she saw the camera and just came for me. But we still got some good practice walking on camera. Sorry for the shakiness, but enjoy the wobbly walking :).

Future Triathlete
In my opinion, this post is way over due. For my baby shower, my dear friend Rebecca, and triathlete inspiration/mentor, got me some very cute baby triathlon onezies. The one that says "My mom can out swim/bike/run your mom" was size 6 months, and given my sleep deprived stupor, I never did get a picture of Emeline in it. I was very bummed about that, because it was adorable, but also relieved, because I dont think I can out swim/bike/run anybody. Nobody likes false advertising right? Anyway, the second onezie is size 12 months, and Emeline is just about bursting out of it, and has been for a while, but today I finally remembered I MUST get photos before it doesn't fit, so we had ourselves a little photo shoot tonight.
Emeline was in rare form after dinner, full of energy and full of smiles. So we got some really good pictures. I had a hard time picking, so here are a lot of photos for you! Here's my sweet pea who inspires me to get back into triathlons so that maybe she'll be excited about them one day too!

Eleven months
Happy 11 months Emeline! Time continues to speed by! It's almost been one year since you joined our lives.
Speed also seems to be your theme for the last month. All of your mobility tricks have just gotten faster. Your crab-walk/half-crawl turned into a full on knees up crawl about 2 days later, and then every day you just got faster. Instead of only using the walls or furniture to get somewhere fast, now you'll drop to the floor and do a bee-line crawl for the object of your desire. But I don't know how long that will last either because just a few days ago you took your first steps! A couple days after you debuted taking a couple steps to walk to mom or dad, you took a couple steps to move from holding on to the table to the chair. You are a quick one!
You continue to explore EVERYTHING...and now have discovered some new things including that heating vents can be opened, plugs come out of sockets, game boxes contain cards, there is swirling water in the toilet, cupboards can be opened and have cool things inside them like sheets or trash (and yes we even have safety latches!), and that mommy has a belly button.
We love to listen to you babble as your language develops. We hear so many sounds and you string them together as if you are speaking your own language. Some of our favorites are when you find something new, you pick it up or point and exclaim, "Doh!", in your little high pitched voice. When written it looks like a Homer Simpson expression, but I assure you it sounds nothing like that. You also will pick up your toys and seemingly say something to them. You are also waving "hello" more consistently, but of course only when you feel like it.
You continue to love games, and peekaboo has morphed into hide and seek. Now I may find you crawling or cruising away, then when I come to see what you are doing you let out a big giggle because I've found you! Then you turn and go somewhere else only to continue the play. You also like to give things to us, either feeding us your cheerios or handing us a toy. It's very sweet. You like to give kisses too!
I think this month you thought taking your pictures was a game in which mommy places you on the couch next to the sheep, then she says, "Ok now stay here", and as soon as she picks up the camera, you lunge out of the picture and laugh. At first I thought you were just excited about my diaper bag on the other side of the couch, but then I realized you waited until the precise moment I picked up the camera to make your move. Needless to say our outtakes mostly have you lunging to the left.
