Eight months

Happy 8 months Emeline! You've now had more time in the world than inside of Mommy! Emeline's been growing and changing like crazy this month. We are learning so much more about her. She's desperate to be mobile, putting together combos of rolling, scooting, and lunging to get just about anywhere, even over steps in our living room. She hasn't figured out crawling yet, but you can tell that she really wants to. One of these days she'll just take off, I'm sure of it.

She's still growing like crazy, out of her 9 month clothes, and well into 12 or even 18! Her bottom two teeth are in completely now, and I'm not sure if we're working on getting more. Everything is in the mouth. At this moment, she's pulling apart her foam tiles and putting them in her mouth...craziness...
What's been really exciting this month, we'll actually just the other day actually, is the new voice we're hearing. Just over night, literally, the day after Thanksgiving, Emeline discovered the sound 'ba'. And since then, we hear 'bababa...' along with other new sounds inserted from time to time. We've heard some 'ma' and 'ga' and 'nya', but so far 'ba' is still the most popular. 'Gee' and a hissing sounds are what she does when she's happy. We just love to listen to her experiment with expressing herself.

We are also getting to see more and more of her personality. She seems to be fearless! We'll almost. She absolutley LOVES swimming. In our parent-child swim class, you see her fearlessness really show. She'll roll around in your arms, splash, jump, you name it, having a blast in the water with no fear at all. She's tenacious and focused, grabbing and lunging for things that are above, below, and beside her. You can see the determination in her face. The only thing I've found her to be timid with is animals. We went to a local farm, and even had a mini tour, and she was not at all interested in touching the animals. I thought with her grabby attitude, she'd be pulling their hair out, but she even seemed a bit afraid. We love getting to know her as each day goes by.

Eight months.

First Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving for us was filled with many things. There were a few firsts for Emeline, including her first real time being sick. I thought she'd had a cold before, but after a few sleepless nights of coughing and congestion, we've definitely experienced the real thing. But despite all of us not feeling well, we enjoyed a delicious meal with family.

Family!

Food! Yes, that is a deep fried turkey! Yum!

Emeline also had her first experience with a rabbit....I'm not sure how little Azul felt about it. He was a good sport.

In spite of her cold, Emeline could still put on some good smiles for her first Thanksgiving.
