Trick-or-treating

It was a fun Halloween night for us, as we went trick-or-treating for the first time as a family.  Wes and I stayed up WAY too late one night to get the girls pizza costumes ready, especially given how little sleep we are getting these days.  But despite our tiredness, they turned out great. 

 

Topped with a couple of chefs hats, we had a fun family costume.

 

We went trick-or-treating with some neighbor friends and had a good time introducing Emeline to the fun part of Halloween.  Isn't it cool that one night a year all the neighbors get together and open their doors to spoil the kids?  This is the first time we've lived somewhere that the nieghbornhood participated. Preschool Parade

Emeline's preschool had a costume parade on Halloween and some other festivities.  We were running a little late, so we missed most of the parade, but we made it to take some pictures with the class.  We rushed out of the car and slapped on Emeline's costume so quick, I'm not sure she knew what was going on.  There were some very cute and creative costumes there!

The parents were like paparrazzi.  Since I was holding Kate too, it was a bit hard to get some good photos, but I got a few with my phone.

Just the beginning

 

Four months

Kate at 4 months is such a sweet heart.  She's now laughing and cooing a lot.  She loves to watch her big sister, and she likes to jump on the couch with her.  Wes will hold her and bounce her while Emeline jumps.  What's funny and sweet is she only laughs if Emeline is jumping too.  Jumping is just no fun without your big sister.  She also loves to be a part of the action watching her world go by.  She doesn't like to be in worn in a carrier much, unless she's asleep, cause it hinders her ability to watch her world.

She's quite a talker and a feeler.  Sometimes she just needs to express herself a while before agreeing to eat or sleep.  I can tell she's gonna want to tell us everything as she gets older, well at least I hope so.  Now she likes to just sit in our arms and look up and talk to us.  It feels like she's telling us about her day.

Sleep has come and gone like an dream we can't quite get a grasp on.  I know it happened once, but it's hard to remember.  But maybe it's cause she's too busy learning new things.  She just rolled over from back to tummy today!  Here are some pics of my sweetie.

Little Kate has been working on rolling over.  It's fun to watch her figure things out.  It's also so cool to remember what it was like to watch Emeline do the same thing.

Tea twins?

We got the cutest baby jumper from our friend Heather before Emeline was born.  It was one of the Tea  Collection's awesome prints.  I couldn't wait to put Emeline in it when she was born.  It's been fun with little Kate to put her in the hand-me-down clothes we have from Emeline and remember what it was like the first time around.  I remember the pictures we took in certain clothes, who bought them, and other occasions and milestones.  But what's interesting is the first few months felt like an eternity of clothes.  Some clothes we got when Emeline was a newborn, and they were size 3 months, and I used to think she'd NEVER be big enough to wear them.  But of course she was eventually.  We are flipping through clothes like pages in a book, only much faster this time.  

I've also come across the problem of seasonally appropriate clothes.  Emeline was born late March, and Kate late June, so the hand-me-down clothes we need now are all in summer styles, and the weather is starting to cool.  Also, Kate's clothes consumption seems a little bit slower than Emeline.  She is hanging out in her sizes a little longer.  Anyway, today was a rather warm day for the end of October, so when I saw the beautiful Tea jumper in the latest batch of clothes, I took the opportunity to put Kate in it.  

Everyone tells me that Kate looks just like Emeline as a baby.  So now's your chance with them side by side.  What do you think?

Half Moon Bay & Pumpkins

Having grown up in Oregon, Wes' idea of pumpkin patches are the kind where you get to cut them off the vine.  Let's just say, the opposite of the ones you see around here on Lawrence Expressway or El Camino.  The pumpkin patch we visited with Emeline's preschool was much more rustic and fun, but still no vines.  We've heard the pumpkin patch in Half Moon Bay was a hit, so we headed out there on a weekend with our friend Sarah for some good rustic pumpkins and some bay area beach time.

One of the most popular pumpkin patches in Half Moon Bay is Lemos farms.  It has a zillion things to do, and looks like lots of fun, but it is a zoo unless you beat the crowds and it causes one crazy traffic jam to get there.  So we sat through the traffic, but skipped the zoo and went to Farmer Johns, which was recommended to us by some friends.  Farmer John's was much more low key and nice, but alas, no vines.  As we left Farmer John's and headed for the beach, we saw a sign for Bob's Pumpkin Farm - Pick 'em Where they Grow.  So next year, we are going to explore that one and see what we find.

The colors at a pumpkin patch are always amazing, and with excited kids, it's always a good photo op.  I had a hard time picking my favorites, so enjoy!  Lots at the pumpkin patch and then a few at the beach.
