iPhone photo dump September

Here's a glimpse into our September...

The cutest breakfast buddies ever.

Trying out some new head towels.

Some screen time together.

Morning at the park.

Still hot enough to swim in September.  Thanks to Grandma Chris for the water balloons!

Playdates with Elodie include lots of styling.

Guitar with Daddy.

Best part ever...when everyone is playing guitar or pretend guitar, and Adele runs out of the play room playing a toy trumpet backwards.

Mommy daughter date.

This is what happens when you leave your phone laying around.

Off for a haircut, before and after.

Helping our neighbors build their Sukkot.

Holding hands at church.

My family awaits!  They beat me home from church.

Picture day at preschool.  Getting to play between photos.  Thankfully Adele had her picture taken just moments before she drew all over herself with black marker.

Taking the class photo.

Emeline's requested artwork for her half birthday cake.

I did my best.  :)

Happy half birthday Emeline!

Twenty one months

Adele is twenty one months today!  We are only three months away from our baby being two years old.  Adele is still the sweet happy little baby she's always been on the inside, but she's kind of a raging toddler on the outside.  She's still got a very happy go lucky personality, but all the drive and determination that goes with her age.

She's talking a lot these days.  She will say 'hi' to everybody.  It's pretty fun to be out with her, shopping, out for a run, anything, she will greet everyone with a big smile and a wave, so joyous that almost everyone says 'hi' back.  She also loves to say 'bye' and give kisses.  But she's also got many other words.  I absolutely love reading animal books with her.  She loves animals, and she can say a few of their names.  But the linguist in me loves hearing her generalizations.  It's common at this age for kids to use one word for a category of words.  For example, she uses 'doggie' for any 4 legged animal.  It makes sense, but it's pretty funny when she points to an elephant and says confidently, 'doggie!'.  She also often uses the final consonant of a word as the first consonant.  For example, she says 'shi' for 'fish', or anything that swims, including whales and sharks.  And she says 'ka' for 'duck' or any birds with large beaks.  It's so much fun to watch her learn. Here's a list of the words I can remember:

ma - more/mas
do - door/window
hi
bye
papa
mama
eye
no - nose
no - no
mou - mouth
eeah - ear
tee - teeth
hei - hair
daaie - doggie
shi - fish
ka - duck
bebe - baby/bebe
pca - cup (yep, she makes this funny double consonant sound, jumbling up the first and last consonants)
me - milk
caca - cracker
shee - cheese (food and camera smiles)
uh - up
ha - help
si - sit
toe - toes
po po - popo/poopoo
ba?l - bottle
bubbles
awa - agua/water
ca - car

Here's a little video of her showing off her words.

Adele is getting interested in the potty.  She wants to sit after diaper changes, she pats herself and tells me after she's peed or pooped in her diaper, and quite often she will tell me she has to poop beforehand and she'll poop on the potty.  I'm by no means ready to potty train this early, but I'm hoping maybe she will be quick when we tackle it sometime after she turns two.

This girl wants to do everything the big kids do.  She tries to put on her own clothes, she's pretty good at pants and shoes now.  She also wants to do everything herself, especially buckles.  She's learning to ride a scooter, and would love to bike or pedal if she could.  She is climbing big stuff at the park now too.  She has also been refusing to sit in her high chair, and we've settled for a booster so she can join us at the table.  She's great at feeding herself, although when she's done, everything gets either dumped or hurled across the table or on the floor.  Wes got beaned pretty hard with a spoon at Hobees.  She's got a strong arm!  We are working on curbing this habit, but not much luck so far.

Adele still sleeps wonderfully, and is not down to one nap.  She gets pretty tired out after morning activities, and we have to make sure she doesn't sleep much in the car or she won't want to nap much later.  But she is still super easy at night.  Such a blessing!

Here's a video of one of her favorite pastimes, kisses!

Here are some pictures of our sweet girl around the house this morning.  She is so full of life and joy!

8 years

Wes and I celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary this year.  We haven't had a night away in about two years, since before Adele was born, and Aunt Diane was willing to give it a go.

So we headed up to SF, stayed in a fancy hotel, had a fancy dinner and drinks, and had a glorious 24 hours to ourselves.

We had a lot of fun together.  Happy Anniversary sweetie!
