Kate is 4! Happy Birthday Kate! Where has time gone? She has grown so much, and so has her personality and smile. Can't you see it?
Oh Kate, there are so many things I want to remember about Kate at this age, but it is hard to put to words. Kate is so Kate. Her personality is so distinct.
Kate can be incredibly stubborn sometimes, this has stayed the same. But often she is very gently stubborn. She will not have a huge tantrum about something, but you definitely can't make her do anything she isn't ready to do. She had lost some trust in her swim teacher, and I tried to convince her to take her swim lesson saying that she could go in the play pool afterward. She wouldn't budge, so I told her she had to sit out of the play pool while the rest of us swam. So she did. She sat quietly and waited for us to be done, no fuss at all, but there was no convincing her to get in the pool. Thankfully we've found her a different teacher, nothing wrong with the first, she just had some trust issues, but now she's swimming like a fish! Once she's ready and onboard she's a fast learner with anything she tries.
She's enjoying swimming, and we did some gymnastics for a while, which she also liked, but this fall she's excited to take soccer just like her big sister. Kate really loves Emeline right now. She really likes being around her and seeks out her attention. When Emeline isn't in the mood, she feels sad. Kate wants to play with her, hug her, anything to be with her big sister.
She's in a very lovey stage right now, likes to give kisses all the time. She loves to give hugs and snuggle too. She's also quite sensitive. Any mishap or booboo and she needs lots of love to calm down again. Along with being sensitive, she seems to be very aware of conflict and tries to bring peace. If other people are upset, she tries to smile at them and get their attention and be sweet. If other sisters are having a hard time she likes to show off at what a good listener she is being.
Kate just learned to ride her bike. She's learning her letters an beginning to show an interest in writing her name. She seems to feel most comfortable writing with chalk, but not so interested in writing letters on paper, but she's getting there. E seems to be her favorite letter, but K is not far behind.
Kate still takes a quiet time while Adele naps, and often still naps herself. She took a turn sleeping on the top bunk, but she's back to the bottom because she prefers to have someone cuddle with her a little before bed.
Kate got to celebrate her birthday a lot this year. We did her party with friends early because of all the traveling we had coming up. But to celebrate on her birthday we had a little family birthday dinner. Actually we ended up doing it twice because Grandma Chris, Auntie Jenn and Baby Bishop were in town, but had to leave the morning of her birthday. Here are some pictures of the two birthday dinners.
