Two!

Kate is two!  She still feels like our baby, it's hard to believe that she's two years old already.  But with each passing day she acts more and more like a big girl.  Baby Kate is no longer a baby.  We miss her sweet babyness, but she's turning into such a delightful little girl.  Some things we want to remember about Kate as this age...

She's funny.  No really...she cracks me up all the time.  I don't even know where to begin...from buckets on her head, to her little foot shuffle she does when she's excitedly running off, to her cute whining.  When she's getting whiny (which is often) she adds '-uh' to every word.  "No-uh! Me-uh!" "Sit down-uh!"  You get the drift.  :)  It may sound annoying, but it's super cute.  When she wants to be picked up, she doesn't say "up", but "hug hug!".  It's hard to say no to that, even though we are trying to get her to walk on her own rather than be carried everywhere.

She's becoming fiercely independent.  "I do it!" "Self!" "My turn!".  These are the words of Katie Sue at two.

She's very sweet.  She's got the sweetest smile, and laughs a lot.  It's easy to get a belly laugh out of her.  She loves hugs and cuddles and loves to kiss her baby sister.  She wants to help and be a part of everything.  She'll happily say "Come on! Come on!" and beckon you or pull you to join her for some fun.

She's a screamer...she always has been.  When we brought her home from the hospital, her hungry cries were so loud, we feared she'd wake up Emeline.  Now she shrieks with delight, or screams out when frustrated.  Either way, she's a loud one, and it's ear piercing.

She's still not much of a sleeper.  She'll sleep through the night now, most of the time, and she'll usually take a decent nap, but she's a tough one to get to sleep...and when she wakes up at night...ouch...see above.

She's now using more and more complete sentences everyday.  She's learning her numbers and is even starting to recognize letters.  She knows a few words in Spanish, picking up more and more now that she's started at Spanish immersion preschool.

She's awesome on her scooter.  She can scoot along and balance on one leg...and when she gets going for a while she holds up one leg and just glides.  It's super cute.  When she wants to break, she puts one leg back in a big lunge position and drags her toes.  All of her movements are so exaggerated, it's cute.  Our first balance bike was so worn out, we opted to get her a new one for her birthday.  It's a little smaller, and given her petite stature, she's gotten more excited about riding on it.

She's a climber!  She is really great a climbing play structures, even ones that are too big for her.  She's quite methodical and careful when she climbs too.

She's petite.  Weighing in at 25.25 lbs in the 32%, and 32.75 inches tall in the 25%.

She's focused.  She will sit down and play with toys in ways Emeline never did.  She looks at you intently when she's listening.  You can watch the wheels turning in her head when you explain something to her, as long as she's calm and in the mood.

She's beautiful.  She's got gorgeous eyes, and a huge smile.  She still has some baby cheeks and got the cutest haircut for her birthday.

If you can't tell, we love our little Katie Sue!  She brightens our day.  Here are some pictures of her before her second birthday party!  We love you!
