Five months

Happy 5 months Kate!  Kate is not much of a sleeper these days.  Sometimes she will sleep a lot at night, but usually it's cause she didn't nap at all the day before.  And sometimes she's up all night, its kind of a manic sleeping situation these days.  But when she's awake she's generally happy or mellow.  We get so many laughs out of her these days.  It's addictive to make her giggle.  Even if she's tired from not napping, she's usually very interested in the world around her and will be distracted easily.  She's now grabbing a lot and enjoying some toys. 

After a mini nap, she was not interested in sleeping so I decided to take some pictures.  Here are some pictures from today of her giggling on the couch.  Just a little bit of sleep and she's ready to laugh!

 

 

Kate is also quite roly poly.  When you set her on her back, she will almost immediately flip to her stomach.  Just the other day she managed to roll from tummy to back, and as soon as she got there she flipped to her tummy again.  Tummy to back roll still requires a lot of effort, so I'm sure as soon as she works out the kinks she'll be rolling all about the house.  

Here are some more pictures from this afternoon.  These were pre nap, so less smiles.  We have a lot less diaper only pictures of Kate, since the weather cooled soon after she was born.  So today I got some cute diaper pictures with her rolling around on her blanket from Auntie Tracey.  The last few show her just before and after her rolling.

Post Thanksgiving pictures

My dad and my grandparents were in town for the Thanksgiving weekend.  Here are some photos we took with Kate while Emeline was napping.  At first I didn't think these photos were that great, cause Kate was in a funny outfit and the focus on the lens seemed to be off, but after looking at them a bunch and playing around with the colors, I really like some of these photos for their candidness and because of their imperfections.

I like this one of my dad, because it captures his smile during a laugh.

 

 

I like this one of the three of us, but at first I didn't cause I didn't have any make up on.  But it shows us all as we are.

I really like this photo of Kate...even though she's turned from the camera.  Maybe it's cause I also love to kiss the back of her bald head :)

 

 

I think this last one is one of my favorites of my grandpa.  I love the calm happy expression on his face, even though he's out of focus and Kate looks a bit fussy.  I still just love this picture of grandpa.

 

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was full of lots of good things this year.

Video Catch Up

I've been accumulating lots of cute little videos of the girls on my phone, but haven't posted them in a while.  So today is video catch up day.  Some cute and sometimes random moments I want to remember.

Emeline went through a phase of driving her toy car and pretending to go through a drive through window.  She would do this on her own, but then one day I got some veggie straws out and I pretended to be the cashier at the window, serving veggie straws.  She thought that was pretty awesome, and went with my whole role play thing.  So I took a few videos.  After a while I started switching it up on her asking for more money, etc and it was neat to see how she played along.

Kate is such a talker.  After nursing sometimes she just likes to sit and coo and tell me about her day.  Or so I like to believe.  Here's some nursing pillow chatting.

One of Kate's favorite things to do these days is to jump on the couch with her sister.  When Papa comes home and everyone is melting down before dinner, he holds Kates and bounces her while Emeline bounces on the couch. Happiness restored!

In the childcare at Mothers Together, the kids made the coolest craft ever.  If it hadn't fallen apart after a week, Emeline would still be playing with this.  It was such a hit!
