New patio!

Since we had some family in town to help keep the kids busy, Wes took it upon himself to tackle the project of putting in a new patio.  He took a couple days off work over the 4th of July weekend, and over that time he designed a new patio, and with the help of a couple day laborers, he demo-ed and installed a new one.  Here are the photos.

Before (what our patio looked like when covered in our stuff...)

Cleared off and ready to tear out...
Mostly torn out, still working on the planters.

What used to be the patio.

Base rock down!

The end of the second day...view from inside the house...

All done laying pavers, cleaned up before sand.

Spreading sand...

And all done!

4th of July

For the third year in a row, our church has participated in a Chili Cook-off on the 4th of July in Palo Alto.  Last year Wes took the girls so I could stay home and rest (I was sick and pregnant with Adele).  This year, I took the girls with Grandma Chris so Wes could work installing our new patio.

Grandma got the girls some fun festive outfits!

It was a hot day, so first we enjoyed some time playing in the water at the park.

The big girls also got their hair all fancied up at a Snip It's booth.

We hung out with people at the church booth, while Grandma went to get us lunch.  The food lines were soooo long, she took almost an hour to come back....I thought almost lost Grandma.  But she faithfully returned and we enjoyed lunch in the shade.

We got fun stuff from the fire fighter booth next door.

And finally, before heading home for some VERY late naps...we stopped for the long awaited snow cones. Emeline was a little grumpy at that point, so didn't want her picture taken.  Just a picture of her snow cone.

Kate didn't mind ;)

We came home for naps, and while the big girls took giant late naps, the little one didn't want to sleep at all.  I was very tired, and was hoping for a nap, but instead, I got this:

We were going to go to a friend's BBQ and perhaps see some fireworks, but after very late naps and still overtired tantruming kids, we opted to stay home to try to be more mellow.  My uncle had procured some "fun things" for us, so we enjoyed our own festivities on the half finished patio.

The big girls were super excited!

Even Adele liked to watch the bright lights.

Special times with Papa!

CDM and Happy Hollow

Grandma Chris and Grandpa David were in town for Kate's birthday.  They had a few fun outings with the girls.  One morning they took the big girls to the Children's Discovery Museum and I stayed home to rest with Adele.  Here they are all ready to go!

They next day the three of us adults took all three girls to Happy Hollow.  We had fun seeing animals (Kate's favorite) and riding rides (Emeline's favorite).

Adele rode her first ride too!  Danny the Dragon...

Fun trips!
