Trying to get a good photo of the girls after church, but all we got was a lot of picture defiance.  Still turned out pretty great though.

Happy Easter!

Skateboarding Birthday

Since Emeline has been fun learning to skateboard, we decided to throw her a skateboarding birthday.      Enjoy the photos!

We started out with some snacks and decorating water bottles with stickers, color your won and skateboarding stickers.

After all the kids had arrived, the kids got suited up (pads and helmets) for a skateboarding lesson with Emeline's teacher.

I think all the kids had fun with the lesson, and for most of them it was their first time on a skateboard.

Emeline and Anissa (who take lessons together) got to be special helpers for part of the lesson.

Younger siblings and friends got to hang out at the park and have snacks.  Lots of fun was had playing with baby Claire.

After the lesson it was cake time!

Fun was had by all, we hope you felt celebrated, Sweet Emeline!

7

Emeline is 7!  The months and years keep flying by and here we are with a 7 year old.  Emeline has grown and matured so much in the last year.  It's hard to know where to begin.  Here are some things we want to remember about her at this age.

She's in 1st grade, and just a few months shy of finishing up another school year.  This year she has progressed a lot at school.  She has made some great strides in both reading and writing in Spanish.  She says she likes math, science, and PE best at school.  This year she has continued with soccer, softball for team sports, she continues to love just about any sports or physical activity.

She started taking some skateboarding lessons on and off this year, and has really enjoyed that.  As those lessons wrap up, we are transitioning to some swim lessons leading into summer, and she loves to be in the water.  She's starting to learn the breast stroke.

We love how she's got the beat within her.  When she hears a song, especially one with a good beat, she just can't help pausing to dance.  She's got good rhythm and loves to improv to music.

She also has an amazing laugh.  When she finds something funny, we want to remember her sweet  goofy way of laughing to herself.

She is sensitive and compassionate.  She is always very aware of her surroundings, especially people.  If someone looks like they are having a hard time, she wants to be there to help, encourage, or comfort.

I'm super excited to bring her to Nicaragua with me this summer.  Her Spanish has come a long way, and I think she will really enjoy interacting with the kids there.

We love our sweet Emeline.  She is a gift!  Here she is at school after celebrating her birthday.  She's 7!

And at home with one of her beloved beanie boos and cake for our family dinner.
