Christmas

We got to spend Christmas in Oregon this year.  We started out the day at Grandma Chris and Grandpa Nick's new house in Canby.  We popped over to the Portland Vineyard for Christmas Eve service and then came back for Christmas Eve dinner, family, and presents.

Here's Uncle Kevin chatting with Kate.

Presents galore.

Smiles in front of the tree.

All the cousins in pajamas!

Happy Birthday Jesus!

Enjoying the cake.

Christmas morning at our rental house.  (After being up most of the night cleaning up blue barf.  Too much cake and goodies...)

Then back to Grandma's for playing and Christmas dinner.  Adele enjoyed her new remote control car.

Playing at the park, sisters on a swing!

Cousins!

The girls had so much fun playing with the cousins.

The day after Christmas we headed back to my dad's house and enjoyed celebrating with him and Teri.

Adele got a new helmet!

Kate got PJ Masks sunglasses!

Delivering Grandpa's gift.

Merry Christmas!

3 years old

Adele is 3!  I never thought the day would arrive when all my children are over 3!  It's kind of a miracle.  It's so bittersweet to watch Adele turn 3.  She was the sweetest baby, but she is so far from a baby now.  My baby is 3!  Can you tell I'm a little shocked by this?

So let's see....what do I want to remember Adele at this age?

She is funny and seems to be smart as a whip, which makes for a very witty little girl.  At night before bed, after we pray and sing, I ask to give her a hug and a kiss.  Lately, she'll say, "No kiss....I want a bite."  Then she'll pretend to chomp on my hand.  Then she'll say "goodnight" and I go.  When we were playing in the snow, making snow angels, she preferred to make them face down, and she said she likes making "tummy angels".  Where does she come up with this stuff?

She has gotten obsessed with learning interesting facts.  She found out about middle names, so she would tell all of us our middle names, and often asks other people's middle names.  She also got really interested in volcanos, and on our recent trips to the library all she wanted was to get books about volcanoes.  Most books about volcanos are too long for her to sit through, but she still loves them.

Adele has been really interested in letters.  She knows almost all her letters and she's been writing a few too.  She has the letter "A" down, and she's written all the letters in her name at one point, but hasn't quite combined them into her name yet.  She also loves to ask people what their letters are.  (Meaning what letter does their name start with.)

She speaks very clearly, using almost all complete sentences, but she has trouble pronouncing the 's' in words that have an 's' followed by another consonant.  For example, snow = no, speed = peed, snot = not, stinky = tinky.  You get the idea.  She is also obsessed with a show called PJ Masks, and she loves the character cat boy, who has 'Super Cat Speed'.  She will stop, ready herself, and yell 'Super cat pee!!' and take of running wherever she is going.  It's hilarious.  It's also a good motivator to get her going.  "Come on Adele, lets go, Super Cat Speed!"

Adele is also still very into Frozen, which you will see more of in her post about her Frozen birthday. She likes to play legos with her sisters, and she is also very interested in puzzles.  She's up for trying just about anything and loves to be included.  She is full of life and wonderful ideas.  She asks a lot of questions, lately asking me how everything is made.  "Mommy, how you make apples?"  "Mommy, how you make fire?"

Adele is a pretty active little girl and loves to ride bikes and scooters.  She was able to ride her pedal bike a few months ago, and pedaled quite confidently along.  But after she had trouble steering she's gotten afraid and hasn't really continued.  I'm sure she'll gain more confidence soon.  She is adventurous on her scooter though, barreling down hills and around curves.

She is super affectionate.  She loves to give hugs and kisses, and she tells us she loves us often.  Now that she is in a big girl bed, she sometimes gets up in the morning and comes into our bed to cuddle.  She actually lays calmly in bed with us and she will put her arms around me and tell me she loves me.  This morning she told me I was wonderful (something I tell her often).  She is such a gift to us.

Here are a few pictures of Adele on her actual birthday.

Our birthday tradition of sprinkle pancakes for breakfast...

Showing me she's three.

Enjoying her birthday sleeping bag!

And getting to blow out candles again with the leftover birthday cake.

And here is my sweet Adele over the years.  I can't believe she is three!

Adele's Frozen Birthday

Adele had been asking for a Frozen birthday for probably about 6 months.  I'm not sure where exactly she got the idea, but a friend from my moms group was giving away some decor from a Frozen party she did I jumped at the idea, and was ready to go for this party pretty quickly.  My dear friend and decorator guru, Rachel, came over to help me set it all up, and it looked great.

We had a few friends come over on a Friday morning for a simple playdate party.  Our babysitter did some amazing face paint for the kids, and even made them Elsa braids out of yarn.  The weather was wet so we had some indoor activities of snowman building and ornament making, and the kids did some Frozen karaoke.

Enjoy the photos!

Here's our lunch spread...

And with the birthday girl...

We put up the poster we made for her preschool birthday celebration.

Here's the sweetie again.

Our activity table.

I had fun with the cake.  Here's the cake before it got some bonus decor.

And here it is all ready for the party.

The TV all ready for Frozen karaoke.

And the girls all ready for friends to arrive.  (Adele got her dress for her birthday, but once she had it on, the others raided the dress up clothes for something appropriate.  I was surprised how many blue dresses we had!)

Fun with friends!

Me and my little Elsa.  Happy Birthday Adele!

Girl Scout Festival of Lights

One of Emeline's Girl Scout events was the Festival of Lights.  It is a holiday event put on by the older GS troops where lots of local troops join to sing holiday songs together.  Here are some photos.
