Kate's Dedication

We dedicated our little Kate Susana to God on at our church on May 19, 2013.  We were blessed to be supported by many family and friends.  Here are some photos of the dedication.

Preschool Photos

I can't believe Emeline is old enough for school photos.  I also can't believe she stood still and posed so well for them.  She was so fasicnated watching her classmates get their pictures taken, and she couldn't wait for her turn.  Then when she was up, she did everything the photographer asked.  Check out her posing!

And here are the results!

They also let us do some pictures of Kate and some sibling shots.  Kate was pretty fussy for the photos, so not many smiles from her, but some cute ones of the two of them.  Enjoy!

And yes!  We do have hard copies for family :)

Quotes

Here are some words out of the mouth of Emeline.  I'm sure I'm missing a lot, but here are some funny ones.

Emeline said while brushing teeth:
There's some hot dog in my teeth! That's why we can brush them.
~
I'm a big bean and Kate's a small bean.
~
After thinking I just heard Emeline say something:
Me:  Did you just say you're a pickle?
Emeline: I'm not a pickle!
Me:  (Laughing).  You're not?  Sure, you're a pickle!
Emeline:  I'm a little pickle, Kate's a little pickle, mommy's a big pickle and papa's a big pickle!
~
I love cats, Katie likes tiny cats, mommy likes big cats, papa likes big dogs.
~
Me:  I love your little bottom, Emeline.
Emeline:  It's a big one!  Kate has a little bottom.
~
Emeline:  There's something in  your nose.  It's hair.
Papa:  Yea, when you get older, you get hair in your nose.
Emeline:  When I'm bigger I'll be a Dad like you.
Papa:  Well, you won't get to be a daddy, but someday you might be a mommy.
Emeline:  No!!!  I'm gonna be a dad!!!
~
Describing her picture:
It's a "p". And a big niña(girl).
~
Looking at my wedding ring:
Emeline: Can I have it?
Me: No. Es mio. (No, it's mine)
Emeline: No! I want it!
Me: Es mio. Porque estoy casada a tu papa. (It's mine.  Because I'm married to your papa)
Emeline: No! I'm married to papa!
~
After some small group dinner conversation about being careful not to spill.  Emeline says:
*I* don't spill!

On top of the world!

A fun morning exploring our friends E & B's new house and a beautiful park near the hills.

Saturday breakfast out

A couple Saturdays ago I woke up with a craving for a yummy breakfast. Wes was already up with the girls and I couldn't sleep in, so we got dressed really fast and hopped in the car all unshowered hoping we'd beat the morning rush to a local joint in Santa Clara called Sara's Kitchen. To our surprise they had tables available immediately. Perfect timing for two little kids. We don't eat out as much with two, and everything went perfectly that morning, so it was a real treat. Here we all are, fresh out of bed ready for our yummy breakfast!

Ten months

Happy ten months Katie Sue!  Time is flying by.  This has been a month of movement for Kate.  Kate has moved from pulling up to cruising and crawling.  All her bouncing, lunging, and crawling attempts have finally gotten productive.  Gone are the days of setting her down expecting her to be in the same place.  She's not too fast yet, but she's getting there.  Here is a cute video of the girls trying to chase each other under the dining table.

She's also started to let go a little bit and do some hands free standing.  Not too much of this, but she's starting to get more confident.  Sometimes she'll take forward steps while holding on to hands or a cart, but for now side stepping with the furniture or crawling is the way to go.

And teeth!  Yay for two front teeth popping through, and two more on the way.  We are glad for teeth, but hope they come out quickly and painlessly to give us all a respite of some much needed sleep.  The other new thing we've seen this month is a few attempts at waving.  It's cute to see her interact with the world around her.

Kate is also developing a little stubborn and tenacious streak.  When she wants something, you will certainly hear about it.  And if you take something away from her that she wanted, watch out.  Shrieks will ensue!  Other than asserting her will from time to time, she's still such a happy sweet part of our family.
She's getting big!
