Emeline and Kate were both born on the 29th of their birth months, so this month is a special month with milestones for both of them. Today Emeline is 2 1/2 and Kate is 3 months! Here are some pictures of the sweet sisters with their animals to show their growth.
Emeline is such a little girl these days. Especially watching Kate grow up, I feel like my first baby is such a big girl. She is super active as always, loving to do somersaults, jump from high places (she almost twisted her ankle today!), kick soccer balls, and ride trikes and balance bikes. Emeline will take any chance she gets to run. She loves to play chase, and she sometimes just runs laps around the car or sprints back and forth in the backyard. Maybe she'll be a track star!
She is such a sweet heart and cares a lot about her friends and family. She brings toys to kids that are sad, she comforts them, and she always wants to hug and kiss her sister, and include her in everything. She thinks a lot about other people. Emeline is still a big daddy's girl, preferring to have Papa for almost anything. She draws him pictures at school, and makes crafts for him. One drawing she actually said she made for Mommy, and I have set that one aside especially for me.
Emeline is of course a big talker, and she expresses things really clearly now. Almost everything is a complete sentence, and she is quite articulate. Again, she's growing so far away from sounding like a baby. I love the sound of her sweet little voice. She is quite the repeater though, so we have to watch what we say. Sitting in traffic with Wes, she said "Come on, let's go!". Her ease at picking up new words and expressions is really serving her well at her Spanish immersion preschool. She understands a lot in Spanish and will use a lot of Spanish words and expressions at school. The more I speak it at home, the more I hear her speaking it too.
We thought we had already experienced tantrums and hearing "no" all the time, but I think we were just beginning. Emeline is one strong willed little one, but even though this is a challenge for us as parents, I think it will serve her well as she gets older. I'm always excited to watch her come into her own. Forgive the long post, but I do love my girls, and I love having these words about them to look back on.
And now...on to Kate! Oh Kate at three months. What a smiley girl she is becoming. As the second child, she is often left sitting in her bouncer while I'm running around trying to do things. When I come back, I'm met with smiles and coos, and I feel bad I've left her all alone. But it is really special to see how social she is becoming, and to enjoy her sweet smiles. They melt my heart, especially with all the rushing around with two kids, it is a treat to just stop and enjoy her company.
Most of Kate's time is still occupied with eating and sleeping, and she's begun to show us a few longer stretches at night. This has been a blessing, but of course we know it will probably be a while til it's more regular, but it gives us hope! Her reflux is getting better, so her awake time is more filled with watching her big sister, smiling at those around her, and kicking with excitement. She's starting to love splashing in the bath.
