4 and a half

Kate is 4 and a half!

Oh, Kate.  She is still our sweet Katie Sue, but boy she is growing up.  She will be heading to kindergarten this fall, and she sure seems ready.  Here are some things we want to remember about Kate at 4 and a half.

Kate loves to sing along to music in the car.  She's learned the words to so many songs.  We love to hear her belting out worship music or more recently some fun pop songs on our mixed CDs.

Kate still loves to cuddle.  She's very sweet to snuggle with, and she loves hugs.  She still loves mom or dad to lay with her for a few minutes before bedtime.  It's a fun time to hear some of her amazing thoughts.

Papa loves to kiss the back of her neck and make her giggle.

Kate has learned to write her name well in the last few months and has fun writing in a kindergarten prep workbook she has.  I think she likes trying to do things like her big sister.

Kate loves to play games.  We used to read a couple stories before quiet time, but now she has been asking to play games with us.  Sometimes it's a board game or a puzzle (zingo, counting strawberries, matching, or Frozen) and sometimes it's pretend play like bake shop.  She likes to set up a little sales stand and sell cakes to me.  She's got a big imagination.

Kate enjoys riding bikes, playing soccer, and has been asking to do gymnastics again.  She really wants to learn how to do a cartwheel.

Kate is somewhat of a homebody.  It can be quite a challenge to get her out the door for school or other activities, but on days we don't have plans, she enjoys playing at home.  With all the busy-ness of 3 kids, I often appreciate and resonate with her need for downtime.    And it's nice when we can have it together.

Here are some pictures of our little half birthday celebration for Kate.  We love you Kate!
