In the past few months, Adele has morphed from our easy, happy, mellow baby to a very busy, determined little toddler. She's still quite happy, but due to her determination, when her goals aren't met, she can get quite frustrated. She's even started hitting and pulling her big sisters' hair. I think all this stems from her strong desire to keep up with the pack. She wants to do everything her big sisters are doing, and it sure is hard when she's not quite old enough to do everything. But she's doing a great job at trying.
Adele loves to play with balls. She get's really excited about balls and works hard to throw them and kick them. She's even good at playing games by throwing or rolling balls back and forth with others. She's also very physically active and has become a great climber. She can climb most small play structures and go down slides by herself. She loves push and ride on toys and has even tried using a balance bike. She really wants to use Emeline's skateboard and gets frustrated when she can't quite do it.
Adele's talking has come along well lately too. She doesn't have a lot of words, but she's getting there. Some I've noticed are:
ba - ball
mama
dada
ada - Adele
popo
sheeze - cheese
shuuz - shoes
da - all done
yayaya - give it to me
hi
di - there
dis - this
(more sign)
(all done sign)
She might not have a lot of words yet, but she sure makes her desires clear. She shakes her head 'yes' and 'no' to answer questions. She points and squeals and all sorts of very intent Adele speak come out of her mouth. She has a lot to say, but she can't quite say it yet.
Adele is still our amazing sleeper. She goes to bed without a peep after stories and a song and she sleeps til morning. I joke that if she woke up in the middle of the night, I wouldn't even know how to help her get back to sleep, because it just never happens. She's almost dropped her morning nap, but every once in a while she will take one. She seems to like sleep too much to be content waiting for just an afternoon nap.
She must like to sleep so much because she's pretty much non stop these days. She's always running, playing, laughing, or getting into something. She also likes books. One of her favorites right now is a baby version of Dr. Seuss' "One fish two fish". She gets excited about all kinds of animals in books and real life.
Adele is also our little jokester. She loves to laugh at burps and farts. I guess she's got her daddy's humor. ;) She also loves to dance to music and to play all kinds of games with her sisters. She's full of energy and joy.
Here are a few of pictures of Adele from her first camping trip last weekend. She slept amazingly and loved exploring everything.
And here are a few of her saying "cheese" for the camera today. Happy 1.5 Adele!
